We Bought A Zoo

I saw an ad and it said that We Bought A Zoo was based on a true story. It got me thinking, what kind of family buys a zoo? So I checked it out, and I found out that when Benjamin Mee's dad died, his mum didn't have much money and wanted to sell their 5 bedroom house for something cheaper, and more adventurous. A pamphlet lands in his mailbox, advertising a 30 acre zoo in Devon called the "Dartmoor Zoological Park" for the same price as their 5 bedroom Surrey Home. They are outbidded, but a year later, in August 2006, the zoo with its 200 animals is being sold again, after being closed from bankruptcy. The Mee family buy it and restore it with what little money they have and they have done amazing job.

It opened again in July 2007. There's been a 4 part BBC story on it, and now it's a film starring Matt Damon and Scarlett Johansson. It opens in 2 days. Benjamin Mee also published a book, aptly named "We Bought A Zoo".

So what do you think? Would you buy a zoo?
